Jason Derby

Why Jason?

The ACT® test is not a side category here.

Only the ACT®

Jason does not tutor other subjects, essay writing, or other standardized tests. He is focused on the ACT®.

Latest ACT® knowledge

Jason has taken the Enhanced ACT® test four times since September 2025, keeping instruction tied to current timing, pacing, pressure, and fatigue.

Licensed provider

Derby ACT Prep is a Licensed Provider of Official ACT® Content through the NTPA ACT Affiliate Tutor Program.

Current teacher

Jason is a current high school classroom teacher. His full-time job is teaching students.

Test success

Jason has scored a 36 on every section (English, Math, Reading, and Science) of the Enhanced ACT® test.

Tutoring options

Pick the format that fits your family.

In person

Face-to-face instruction for families in the tri-state area.

Remote

The same quality tutoring in an online format via Zoom.

Students working remotely will still get all physical materials delivered to their home.

The work

Teach the test content and the test decisions.

Students need content knowledge, but they also need to know what to do when the clock is running and the answer choices are designed to punish shallow thinking.

Find the point leaks

Identify the student's biggest losses: content gaps, pacing, careless errors, section strategy, or stamina.

Build the missing skill

Teach the grammar, math, reading, science reasoning, and test habits that create better decisions.

Practice under pressure

Use timed work and review so students learn how to execute when the test gets uncomfortable.

Real ACT® test forms

Real ACT® test forms > mock ACT® look-alikes.

Derby ACT Prep is a licensed participant in the NTPA ACT Affiliate Tutor Program and a Licensed Provider of Official ACT® Content. This means students use actual released ACT® test forms from previous years, including forms as recent as the April 2026 ACT® test, for practice testing, not "mock" tests that fail to replicate the actual ACT®.

Why it matters

Practice should expose students to authentic ACT® structure, wording, timing, scoring, and difficulty.
